Le Havre Seine Métropole is best known for its world-renowned port activities. The city is also attractive to the many students – some 13,700 – who choose to pursue their academic studies in Le Havre. Le Havre campus, located right in the heart of the city and close to the coast, provides a wide range of academic programmes offered by the university and the 8 Grandes Ecoles located in the area.
Its maritime identity and quality of life are complemented by its cosmopolitan atmosphere. Every year, the city welcomes more than 2,700 international students. Thanks to its international reputation, the city is committed to welcoming foreign students, in particular by organising a welcome evening for them, known as the Nuits des Etudiants du Monde (World Student Night). This friendly, festive evening gives newly-arrived students a chance to discover the area and bond with international students from all higher education establishments. Performances of traditional dances, songs and music from the countries of the international students showcase the wide range of cultures represented during the evening.
